Sam Mendes has gone all Dunkirk in the first trailer for his new movie 1917 – Featuring a ticking clock, ominous strings and explosive bass… but are we complaining? Nope.

When a stellar cast with the likes of Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch come together for the director of Skyfall, American Beauty and Road To Perdition you know it’s going to be good.

1917 also marks the screenwriting debut for Sam Mendes, so it’ll be great to see him work a new angle on his already Oscar-winning capabilities in other fields. The movie also features Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, George MacKay and Dean Charles-Chapman from Game Of Thrones.

The clock is ticking, let’s hope the release date of Jan 2020 hurries up!
