Venom 2: Did Tom Hardy just announce the Director?

With Spiderman: Far From Home passing the $1 billion mark, rumours have been circulating this week on who will direct that other Spidey-property, Venom 2. Directors in the running have included Rupert Wyatt (Planet Of The Apes), Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle).

Star Tom Hardy recently shared an image of Andy Serkis on his Instagram, but swiftly deleted it.

The image has since been deleted, but not before being screenshotted by many adoring fans and re-shared by multiple accounts.

Is this a sign that Andy Serkis will be in the Director’s chair?

His Directing work may seem relatively small (He has just 3 credits, the biggest of which is Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle), but he is a movie-making force to be reckoned with. His mo-cap work on Lord Of the Rings set him on course to be one of Hollywood’s biggest experts in the field, going on to work similarly in Planet Of The Apes. Talents like these will be perfect for such a CGI-heavy film like Venom 2 that will most definitely feature much of Tom Hardy doing his own physical work.

Fingers crossed we’ll find out soon if Andy Serkis has officially signed on as Venom 2 Director, or if Tom Hardy just loves his beardy look.
